In 2001 Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning created Tesla Motors (The first 100% electric car company). Elon Musk later joined them as the co-founder. In 2008, Tesla Motors was almost bankrupt, and Elon Musk partially helped restore the money. Because of that action, he acquired the roles of CEO and Product Architect. Later that year, they released their first car, the Tesla Roadster, with sales of about 2,500 vehicles to 31 countries. In 2012, the Tesla Model S (also called WhiteStar) was released. In 2016, the Tesla Model X will be available for purchase.
